New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, today announced that monies raised at the November 22nd Granite State Baseball Dinner through ticket sales, raffle tickets and a silent and live memorabilia auction netted $133,949.76, an all-time high for the charitable event. The proceeds were divided among the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD), the Ted Williams Museum and Hitters Hall of Fame and the Fisher Cats Foundation.
"In this season of giving, we are pleased to positively affect three very worthwhile causes as a result of the generosity of our fans, special guests, volunteers and business partners at the annual Granite State Baseball Dinner," said chairman of the Fisher Cats Foundation board Art Solomon.
"CHaD is extremely grateful to all of the supporters of the Granite State Baseball Dinner, including the lead organizations, the sponsors and all of the dinner attendees," said Paul Merguerian, MD, Director of CHaD. "The funds from the dinner directly support the health care needs of the children and families served by CHaD, so we are very thankful that the valued partnership between New Hampshire's baseball team and New Hampshire's children's hospital makes such a positive impact."
"We were very excited to take part in this traditional charitable dinner, creating a strong partnership with these two outstanding organizations -the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth," said Ted Williams Museum and Hitters Hall of Fame Executive Director Dave McCarthy. "We want to thank all the fans who attended the event and helped financially support the museum in its ongoing mission to celebrate baseball through outreach and education, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the Fisher Cats and CHaD in the future."
As New Hampshire's only children's hospital, CHaD provides an extended system of care that offers advanced clinical services for children. CHaD is committed to providing outstanding compassionate care for children and their families. Their physician expertise provides primary, specialty and tertiary care to the children of New Hampshire, Vermont and beyond.
The goal of the Ted Williams Museum is to preserve and build on the rich tradition and heritage of our national pastime. The proceeds from the Granite State Baseball Dinner are invaluable to ensure the Museum's continued existence and to provide for its youth programs and scholarships for deserving student athletes. Through the Ted Williams Baseball Outreach Foundation, grants are made to youth baseball programs across the country. The Foundation also provides educational scholarships on an annual basis to student athletes who excel in academics, baseball and citizenship. The Ted Williams Museum & Hitters Hall of Fame is located at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL, as well as a satellite display at Merchantsauto.com Stadium in Manchester, NH.
The Fisher Cats Foundation is a statewide charitable organization dedicated to bettering the lives of young people by supporting CHaD and providing scholarships to college-bound New Hampshire and Massachusetts students. Fisher Cats Foundation Scholar-Athlete Scholarship recipients are selected using criteria that include academic achievement, athletic achievement and active citizenship. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors and citizens of New Hampshire or Massachusetts.
