All-Star MacAulay Returns For Playoffs

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced defenseman Kenny MacAulay (MICK-all-ee) has been returned to the Thunder from loan to the Portland Pirates (AHL).

MacAulay is expected to suit up for the Thunder tonight, who visit the Las Vegas Wranglers for Game 2 of the Pacific Division Finals of the 2009 Kelly Cup Playoffs at 7:30 p.m. (1420 KSTN/StocktonThunder.com) from Orleans Arena.

MacAulay, 24, was selected to represent the Thunder at the 2009 ECHL All-Star Game, the second straight honor of his career before his recall to Portland on Jan. 20. The 5-foot-10, 195-pound blueliner led Thunder defensemen and ranked tied for eighth among ECHL defensemen with 23 points (3g-20a) in 38 games at the time of his recall, additionally posting 74 penalty minutes.

The Baddeck, Nova Scotia native skated in 35 games for Portland, scoring nine points (1g-8a) and posting 31 penalty minutes while adding one assist in five Calder Cup Playoff games this year. In 134 career professional games with Stockton and Fresno of the ECHL and Rockford and Portland of the AHL, MacAulay has scored 54 points (8g-46a) and posted 208 penalty minutes while adding four points (1g-3a) in 11 career postseason games at the ECHL and AHL levels.

MacAulay was originally signed by the Thunder as a free agent on Dec. 30, 2008.

The Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of the San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew 223,854 fans to Stockton Arena in 2008-09.
