NEW YORK (Thursday, March 12, 2009) - Aspiring young soccer players from coast-to-coast and around the globe have completely filled the 1,800 spots available for Sueño MLS 2009 - built by The Home Depot, the nationally-televised player search which this season expands to three markets, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Chicago.
Up to 600 tryout spots were made available at each city on a first come, first serve basis, with most field positions filled in only hours. Registrations were received from 36 different states and 23 foreign countries.
More than 1,000 players have additionally registered for the waiting list, which remains open at www.suenoMLS.com. The 2007 winner, Jorge Flores, began his quest as a waiting list player and is now on the Chivas USA senior roster and a member of the U-20 U.S. National Team.
Entering its third year, Sueño MLS 2009 - built by The Home Depot, will include three local tryouts, with four winners from each city moving on to an exciting four-day "Final Event" in Los Angeles, April 9-12. The ultimate champion will be crowned on Sunday, April 12, live (EST) on "República Deportiva" (Sports Republic), the popular Univision weekly Spanish-language sports show that will chronicle the tryouts in a "reality show within a show" format.

PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY:
Eligible players must be at least 16 years old (with appropriate identification) and retain their amateur status. Current collegiate student athletes will not be permitted to attend the final event in Los Angeles. Sueño MLS participants will be responsible for all personal expenses associated with the local market tryout, including travel to local tryouts, lodging, food, soccer equipment (shoes, training gear, etc.), etc. Program sponsors will cover all expenses for twelve (12) participants selected to attend the final event in Los Angeles, CA.
