Montreal Impact News Release

MONTREAL - Montreal Impact forward Ali Gerba was named Thursday to the USSF Second Division All-star Team (Best XI).

Gerba, who joined the Impact on July 15, finished the season as the team's leading scorer with a total of nine goals and one assist for 19 points. He also scored four goals in the quarter-final series against the Austin Aztex.

"I am proud to have been selected, but would have preferred this nomination alongside a place in the finals," said Gerba. "I am disappointed that our season is over, as my primary objective has always been to help Montreal win."

"I am very happy for Ali," said Impact technical director Nick De Santis. "He did very well for us this season despite playing in only 17 games. He brought a new dimension to the team in the second half of the year. Ali quickly demonstrated that he is one of the best strikers in the league. It's nice to see that the media and managers recognized his skills."

Individual league honours were determined through a vote by members of the media, general managers and head coaches across the league.
