Alexey Solyvev Signs with Avangard Omsk in the KHL

Former Brahma Defenseman Alexey Solyvev, has signed with Avangard Omsk in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The KHL is Russia's professional hockey league, similar to the NHL. For a player who was born in Moscow, it's an absolute dream come true.

Solyvev was one of the first players to sign with the Brahmas when the team moved from the CHL to the NAHL and one of the few to play for both the Tornado and Brahmas during their tenure. Donning the Brahma jersey from 2012-15, Solyvev recorded 63 points (17g-46a) in 147 games played.

"Alexey is one of those players that you can put out there in any situation and trust him to get the job done," said Brahmas Head Coach and GM Dan Wildfong.

Avangard Omsk ended eighth out of 28 teams in the overall league standings with a record of 30-17-6-2. The southwestern Russian team made it to the final round of the Gagarin Cup (similar to the Stanley Cup) at the conclusion of the 2018-19 season.

"We are so proud to see Alexey sign in his native Russia," said Brahmas Vice President Chad Siewert. "The experience he gained playing over here in America will surely help him stand out in the KHL. There is no doubt a Gagarin Cup is in his future."
