SPRINGFIELD, MO. - Today the Frisco RoughRiders have received third baseman Alex Buchholz from Triple-A Round Rock. There is no corresponding roster move at this time, and the Frisco roster is now at 24 active players.

Buchholz, 25, comes back to the RoughRiders after spending 13 games with Triple-A Round Rock. Since his promotion on May 1, the third baseman played eight games at the hot corner and five as the Express designated hitter, hitting .313 against Pacific Coast League pitching. Eight of his 14 hits went for extra bases, including two home runs. On May 17, Buchholz posted a three-hit night, going 3-for-4 against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.

Before the promotion, the former Delaware Blue Hen played in 23 games for Frisco, 21 of which came at third base. At the time he was promoted, Buchholz was third among Frisco batters in home runs (3) and doubles (5). Last year Buchholz played the entire season in a RoughRiders uniform, hitting .247 with seven homers and 41 RBI in 84 games.

Frisco's roster is now at 24 active players, one below the Texas League limit.

The RoughRiders play game three of their series in Springfield against the Cardinals Friday night at 7:09 p.m. Frisco returns home Tuesday, May 28, 2013 to host Springfield at 7:05 pm at Dr Pepper Ballpark, and fans may purchase tickets for either game by visiting www.RidersBaseball.com or by calling (972) 731-9200. Tickets are also available for purchase at the Dr Pepper Ballpark box office, which is open 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Monday - Friday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday.
