Alaska Wild News Release

ANCHORAGE- Alaska Wild has concluded a national search and signed Keith Evans to lead Anchorage's first professional football team. Evans, of Tacoma, Wash., visited team executives in early January for an interview and to familiarize himself with Alaska and the organization.

David Weatherholt, president of Alaska Professional Sports Inc., owner of the Alaska Wild, said Evans made a great impression and comes with high recommendations.

"He is a former running back, familiar with the indoor team and has head coaching experience in the indoor football arena," said Weatherholt. "Evans was a strong candidate from the beginning and we are excited to have him on board. Head coaching experience in indoor football, familiarization with the Pacific Northwest, and great character will be true assets that Evans will offer the Alaska Wild."

Evans has over 15 years of minor league football experience as a player, offensive coordinator and head coach in the Northwest Football League (NWFL), Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL), National Indoor Football League (NIFL), and American Football Association (AFA). In 2002, Evans was the running backs and special teams coach for the undefeated AFA National Champion Puget Sound Jets.

Evans said he is impressed by the Alaska Wild organization and the community support leading into the team's inaugural season.

"I'm ready to bring Anchorage a quality football program," said Evans.

Evans will travel to Anchorage in January for the open tryouts and said he is eager to jump into the aggressive free agent players market of the many indoor leagues.

The Alaska Wild is Alaska's first professional football team and one of two professional sport teams based in Anchorage. Alaska Wild is owned by Alaska Professional Sports, Inc.
