February 8, 2008 - Intense Football League (Intense)
Alaska Wild News Release

Alaska Professional Sports, Inc. and the Alaska Wild are proud to announce three new community-based partnerships with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Alaska, Service High School and Wendler Middle School. Last year, Alaska Professional Sports, Inc. and the Alaska Wild started a trend of making partnerships; having the non-profit organizations with Special Olympics-Alaska being the first. This year, APS/AK Wild wanted to continue on the tradition. This 2008 season, these three entities will be able to promote community awareness through the Alaska Wild home games and other AK Wild resources during the season.

"Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska is optimistic about the commitment of the Alaska Wild to our mission of supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships; we hope this partnership will evolve into a long standing relationship," said Liz Army, Director of Recruitment and Partnerships for the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Alaska. The Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Alaska program tries to help children by creating one-to-one relationships with mentors that will have a lasting positive influence. Successful mentoring relationships for children will in turn, contribute to better school environments, brighter futures, and stronger communities for all.

The two schools involved in the new partnership (Wendler and Service) will be given an opportunity to learn about what goes into creating a business in sports, in addition learning how to become a professional athlete and coach. "Partnering with the AK Wild is an exciting opportunity for us at Wendler. We look forward to the synergy that can come from local sports figures and school officials working together to help our students learn, stay in school and follow their dreams," said Joel Roylance, Wendler Middle School Principal. "Athletics are a very important part of our extra-curricular program at Service, and partnering with Alaska's newest professional sports organization is a wonderful opportunity for our school community. We look forward to a long, successful collaboration, Go Wild!" said Lou Pondolfino, Service High School Principal.
