Allen Wranglers News Release

Ever wonder how a bunch of Texas boys would fare in the Alaskan terrain' Or what it's like to be in a place with consistent weather' Wonder no more.

The Allen Wranglers travel to Alaska this week for their March 18th matchup against the Fairbanks Grizzlies. The Wranglers departed from Allen at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday and will return at 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Head Coach Chris MacKeown said it will be quite the trip.

"It's not every day you have the chance to fly to Alaska and play football," MacKeown said. "We're going to take advantage of it while we can." Defensive coordinator Quinn Cairo said reasons like the team's trip to Alaska is why he loves this league. "The IFL gives players so many opportunities to see things they never would have seen otherwise," he said. "We are lucky to be a part of it." Both coaches admitted the travelling will take a toll on their team. After an eight hour flight to Fairbanks, the Wranglers will have to adjust to Alaskan time. The 7:05 p.m. kickoff against the Grizzlies Friday night will take place at 10:05 p.m. Texas time.

"The time change will definitely play a factor in the game," MacKeown said. "I hope we are able to adjust when we need to." The Wranglers are coming off a bye-week after a 39-36 win over the Bricktown Brawlers in Oklahoma City; the Grizzlies fell 35-50 to the Tri-Cities Fever last Saturday. The Wranglers will play their next home game against the Bricktown Brawlers at the Allen Event Center on March 25th; kickoff is set for 7:05 p.m.
