AirHogs Bring Back Pitchers Dowdy and Cunningham

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Grand Prairie AirHogs announced that the team has signed LHP Justin Dowdy and RHP Jakob Cunningham to contracts for the 2013 season. Both pitched out of the bullpen for the AirHogs in 2012.

The southpaw Dowdy was the AirHogs' closer last season and led the team with 17 saves. He went 2-1 with a 2.27 ERA in 31 appearances.

Dowdy came to the AirHogs after spending the 2011 season with triple-A Fresno in the San Francisco Giants organization. He was selected in the 18th round of the 2001 draft at the age of 17 by the Chicago White Sox.

Cunningham pitched for the AirHogs in 2011 and 2012. Last season he appeared in 34 games and posted a 3.93 ERA with no record.

A native Texan, Cunningham played college baseball at Lubbock Christian University.
