Agudio Leads Thunderbirds to Win in Utah

OREM, UTAH - The Albuquerque Thunderbirds defeated the Utah Flash on Saturday night, 109-103. Antoine Agudio led six Albuquerque players in double figures with 24 points.
Albuquerque got out to a 9-0 lead in the opening minutes, and led 32-25 at the end of the first quarter. Utah outscored the T-Birds by nine in the second quarter, and led 57-55 at halftime.
The T-Birds used a late 10-0 run in the third quarter to take a four point lead heading into the fourth. Utah closed the lead to one with 17 seconds to play, but Albuquerque made its free throws down the stretch to pull away for the win.
Carlos Powell added 21 points for Albuquerque. Kevin Pittsnogle (16), Yaroslav Korolev (14), Chad Toppert (12), and Kurt Looby (10) also scored in double figures for Albuquerque.
Carlos Wheeler led the way for Utah with 26 points. Orien Greene added 19 for the Flash.
The Thunderbirds shot a season-high 58.2% from the field and 92.3% from the line. Utah shot 53.9% for the game.
The Thunderbirds will continue their road trip when they again take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Jan. 4 as part of the 2010 NBA D-League Showcase. The game will begin at 11:00 am MT, and fans can either listen in on 1050 KTBL or watch the game live on NBA Futurecast.
