BEST IN THE WEST: The Las Vegas Gladiators (5-5) and Arizona Rattlers (5-5) have both executed significant turnarounds this season. Both teams started 1-4 in the first five games and have rebounded with 4-1 records in the last five.

The main improvement for both teams has been an increase in offensive output. Las Vegas averaged 46.8 points per game in the first five weeks and has increased to 55.6 points per game in the last five. Arizona increased from 37.2 to 53.0.

Both teams are currently tied for the Western Division lead.

BIG BEN: OS BEN NELSON, who has started only five games for the San Jose SaberCats this season, is third among rookies with 745 receiving yards. His 40 receptions for 542 yards in the month of March led the League and earned him the Rookie of the Month honors. Nelson did not play in the first five games of the season. COACH COUNTS DOWN TO CENTURY MARK: Chicago Rush Head Coach Mike Hohensee has 99 victories in his 12-year coaching career and needs one more to become only the third AFL head coach to reach the 100 victory mark.

RECORD BREAKERS: Tampa Bay Storm QB SHANE STAFFORD, San Jose SaberCats QB MARK GRIEB, and Dallas Desperados QB CLINT DOLEZEL lead the AFL with 3,093, 3,091, and 3,005 passing yards, respectively. All three are on pace to break the single-season record set in 2005 by Grieb (4,796). Stafford and Grieb meet this weekend.

RECORD PACE: Colorado Crush OS DAMIAN HARRELL, who leads the AFL with 35 touchdowns, is on pace to break the current single-season record with 56. The current mark (46) is shared by five different players. Additionally, he leads the AFL with 210 points. He is on pace for 336 points, which would break the single-season record (310) set by WR/DB BARRY WAGNER in 1997, while playing for the Orlando Predators.

Harrell needs one touchdown reception this week to reach 60 consecutive games with at least one touchdown catch, setting an AFL record.
