February 7, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
NEW YORK - The AFL's 21st season officially kicked off Sunday, February 4, as five teams reported to training camp. By Monday, February 12, all of the League's 19 teams will have commenced practice in preparation for the 2007 season that begins on March 1.
The Austin Wranglers, San Jose SaberCats, Grand Rapids Rampage, Las Vegas Gladiators and Kansas City Brigade were the first to begin preparations with the hopes that their season will conclude at ArenaBowl XXI in New Orleans on Sunday, July 29.
The New Orleans VooDoo, who missed the entire 2006 season due to Hurricane Katrina, return with Head Coach Mike Neu still at the helm from a 9-7 2005. The team reported 35 players to camp on Monday, with only six held over from 2005.
Coincidentally, the last team standing at the end of the 2006 season will be the last team to kickoff their training camp as the defending ArenaBowl XX Champion Chicago Rush report to camp on Monday, February 12, at the Poplar Creek Sports Centre in Hoffman Estates, IL.
