PICKED OFF: Austin Wranglers' DS DAMON MASON was named ADT AFL Defensive Player of the Week for Week 2 after intercepting three passes in a 53-34 win over Arizona. Mason leads the league in interceptions this season with five. He has already matched his interception total from all of last year. With two more, he will match his career high of seven in 2000 and pass DS CHRIS BARBER to rank sixth all-time.

WHO SCORES MORE?: QB AARON GARCIA of the New York Dragons and QB ANDY KELLY of the Kansas City Brigade are in a weekly battle for the AFL all-time lead in touchdown passes. Garcia is currently in the lead with 735, but Kelly is right behind him with 727.

IMPROVING: There are five undefeated teams in the AFL through Week 2 -- Austin Wranglers, Colorado Crush, Dallas Desperados, Nashville Kats, and Philadelphia Soul. Last season, these teams had a combined 4-6 record entering Week 3. Overall, the teams have posted a boost in sacks, producing 18 in 2006 compared with six in 2005, while also showing an improvement in interceptions, increasing from 12 in 2005 to 15 in 2006. The two teams that have shown the greatest improvements in sacks are the Philadelphia Soul and the Nashville Kats. Both had one sack each in 2005, while the Soul have produced five this season and the Kats have produced seven.

CATCHING DARRYL: WR/LB DARRYL HAMMOND of the Nashville Kats needs four receptions to become the fourth AFL player to eclipse the 800-reception mark in a career, joining teammate WR/LB CORY FLEMING, who accomplished the feat in Week 1, WR/DB BARRY WAGNER, and OS EDDIE BROWN.
