SAN JOSE, Calif. -- New Jersey Gladiators kicker STEVE VIDETICH (6-2, 185, North Carolina State) was named the Arena Football League's Kicker of the Year, while Detroit Fury lineman R-KAL TRULUCK (6-4, 270, Cortland State) was selected as the AFL's Lineman of the Year.

Videtich, who won the same award in 1997, had a stellar year for the Gladiators. He scored 130 points (No. 5 amongst kickers) and led the league by converting 96.7 percent of his extra points (88 of 91). He also made 14 of 25 (56.0%) field goal attempts. A seven-year veteran, Videtich has scored 861 career points, ranking him 10th on the all-time AFL scoring list.

Truluck, the 2001 Rookie of the Year, led the AFL in sacks (9.0). In addition, the second-year player led all Detroit lineman in total tackles (33), quarterback hurries (7.0) and tackles for loss (6.0). He added a pair of forced fumbles, recovering one for a touchdown. Truluck has recorded 17.5 sacks during his first two seasons in the league, more than any other AFL player.

Other candidates for Kicker of the Year included: Daron Alcorn (San Jose), Mike Black (Tampa Bay), Nelson Garner (Indiana), Matt George (Toronto), Brian Gowins (Grand Rapids), Remy Hamilton (Los Angeles), Steve McLaughlin (Buffalo), Clay Rush (New York), and Jason Wells (Dallas).

Other candidates for Lineman of the Year included: Ernest Allen (Orlando), James Baron (Chicago), Stacy Evans (Arizona), Sam Hernandez (San Jose), Steve Konopka (Toronto), John Moyer (Chicago), Tony Plantin (Los Angeles), Israel Raybon (Grand Rapids), Jermaine Smith (Georgia), Chris Snyder (Indiana), and Mike Ulufale (San Jose).
