Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(LANCASTER, CA) - One of the most popular annual events on the JetHawks schedule, Aerospace Appreciation Night, is the centerpiece of the JetHawks second-to-last homestand of the regular season. Besides great special events, giveaways, and promotions, the seven-game stretch Friday through Wednesday features key games against fellow South Division rivals in the pennant drive as the JetHawks host the High Desert Mavericks and the Lake Elsinore Storm.
The Mavericks visit Lancaster for four games Friday-Sunday, including the Third Annual JetHawks Aerospace Appreciation Night. This special event honoring the role the aerospace industry plays in Antelope Valley life takes place Friday night. The evening is dedicated to commemorating one of the true pioneers of American aviation, General Chuck Yeager. The first 1,500 hundred fans in attendance will receive a free General Yeager bobblehead doll which features the General holding a miniature version of the plane he flew while breaking the sound barrier. Pre-game activities include a video tribute to General Yeager as well as a fly-by by two F-16 fighter jets following the National Anthem. The game will conclude with the final Fireworks Spectacular of the 2006 season, all presented by Edwards Federal Credit Union, KTPI 103.1, and the AV Press.
Antelope Valley's finest will be saluted Saturday as part of the Fallen Heroes Pre-Game Softball Tournament and T-shirt giveaway. This event memorializes all those who have lost their lives in the line of duty protecting our way of life in our community. The softball game takes place from 2-5 PM Saturday prior to the JetHawks game with proceeds from ticket sales going to the newly established Fallen Heroes Fund to support families of local heroes who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt presented by First City Credit Union, Magic 1340, and the AV Press.
Sunday features a rare double-header, and is also Mascot Day at Clear Channel Stadium. KaBoom! Has invited several friends to play with him throughout the two games, including Wooly Bully from the High Desert Mavericks, Luke from the Fullerton Flyers, Bernie from the Inland Empire 66ers, and Spike from the Long Beach Ice Dogs. In addition, the Homestand Warriors who attended every game of the JetHawks recent long homestand will be honored on-field, and will receive their team autographed baseballs.
The Lake Elsinore Storm play at Clear Channel Stadium Monday through Wednesday, featuring the JetHawks popular weekday promotions. "Office Olympics Mondays" allow fans to compete for great prizes, "Tumbleweed Tuesdays" offer great ticket discounts, and "Weenie Wednesdays" feature one dollar hot dogs and a chance to enter the JetHawks Hot Dog Hall of Fame.
Great tickets for these and every game may be ordered by calling the JetHawks at (661) 726-5400 or by logging on to the team website at www.jethawks.com. If the JetHawks qualify for the 2006 California League Playoffs, tickets for all potential home games will go on sale to the general public beginning at 10 AM Tuesday, September 5.
