Aeros' Olvecky assigned to Slovakian National Team

HOUSTON, Texas - Houston Aeros General Manager Tom Lynn has announced today the American Hockey League (AHL) club has assigned left wing Peter Olvecky to the Slovakian National Team for the 2009 IIHF World Championships.

Olvecky, 23 (10/11/85), posted 23 points (6-17=23) in 41 games with the Aeros during the regular season. In three games played in the Aeros playoff series Olvecky notched a goal and an assist in Game Two of the West Division Semifinals. He also tallied seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) in 31 games with Minnesota on his first NHL call-up which began January 18. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Nove Zamky, Slovakia, is in his fourth season with Houston, totaling 115 points (49-66=115) and 171 penalty minutes in 239 regular season games. Olvecky was the Wild's third-round pick (No. 78 overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
