Admirals Fall in Game Five to Chicago

Rosemont, IL-One night after the Admirals held the AHL's highest scoring offense off the scoreboard, the Chicago Wolves exploded for two goals in each of the first two periods and beat Milwaukee 4-0 Thursday night at the All-State Arena. The win gave the Wolves 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven West Division Semifinal.
The Wolves got on the board just 1:59 into the game when Brett Sterling scored for the second time in the series with a wrister that beat Admirals goaltender Pekka Rinne to the blocker side. Jason Krog and Brian Sipotz picked up the assists on the play.
Chicago got lucky on the second goal of the night at the 9:17 mark of the first. Former Admiral Darren Haydar carried the puck into the Milwaukee zone and dumped it to Nathan Oystrick, who carried the puck into the slot and fired a shot that went over the net, off the boards, took one bounce on the Admirals net, and then ricocheted off of a startled Rinne and into the net.
The Admirals had their best chance of the opening period when Sterling went to the box at for slashing at 15:56. However Milwaukee managed just two shots on the man-advantage and Chicago went into the locker room with a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
The second period began with a golden opportunity for the Admirals when Boris Valabik and Oystrick took minor penalties just nine seconds apart. But before the Ads were able to establish the zone Cal O'Reilly was whistled for interference the Admirals two-man advantage was gone.
Brian Fahey put the Wolves up by three when he one-timed a Joe Motzko pass from the high slot at 4:45 of the second and Joe Motzko made it 4-0 just over three minutes later when chipped in a puck that was loose in the slot for his first goal of the playoffs.
Milwaukee got their lone goal with eight seconds remaining in the game when defenseman Mark Matheson fired a slap shot from the blueline that deflected off Chicago goaltender Ondrej Pavelec's glove and into the net.
Dov Grumet-Morris replaced Rinne after two periods and all six shots that he saw in the third.
Game six is set for Saturday night at 7:30 pm at the Bradley Center. Tickets for the game are just $15 and $11, which is up to 30% off the regular season price. Should the two teams go the distance, game seven would take place at the All-State Arena on Monday, April 28th at 7:00 pm.
