Adams Goes Deep To Power 4-2 Tucson Win
July 12, 2009 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Tucson Toros News Release
Long Beach, CA-Second Baseman Skip Adams provided all the offense the Tucson Toros would need in their 4-2 defeat of the Long Beach Armada. Adams broke a scoreless tie by belting a 3-run 3rd inning home run off of Long Beach starter Ben Fox. The long ball was Adams' team leading 7th of the season. Adams and Fox will need to make amends in hurry, as the pair will be on the same team as representatives of the South Division in Tuesday's GBL All-Star Game in St. George.
Tucson added to their lead the following inning when Catcher Luis Apodaca drove in Third Baseman to make the score 4-0.
Starting Pitcher Dan Knox pitched brilliantly to improve to 3-0 this season. The righty allowed just a pair of runs in six innings of work while striking out four.
Shortstop Ryan Priddy had another multihit game, going 2-for-4 to increase his season batting average to .408.
The Toros and Armada will face each other once again Sunday in the final game of the three game series before the All-Star break. A linked feed of the Long Beach broadcast will be available at www.tucsontoros.com.
