ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - Tim Wallace scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and added an insurance empty-netter as the Alaska Aces downed the Utah grizzlies 4-2 Wednesday night at the Sullivan Arena.

The Aces win stopped Utah's seven-game win streak and kept the Grizzlies six points behind Alaska in the Mountain Division.

Alaska got off to a good start as Tyler Shattock scored his first goal in Glacier Blue, gathering in a bouncing puck in the slot and blasting it by Grizzlies goaltender Ryan Faragher at 5:27 of the first period. Assist to Steve Tarasuk.

Shots after one period 17-14 Alaska.

In the second period, the Grizzlies came with push-back. Goals by Eric Higby and Michael Pelech wiped out the Aces lead, and Utah skated off with a 2-1 lead after two.

Shots favored Alaska 31-29 after two.

Alaska ramped up the offense in the third period. Stephen Perfetto took Danny Moynihan's centering pass and one-timed a shot at 10:14 that leaked through Faragher and into the net for his 24th goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2. Tarasuk added another assist.

Then it was Wallace's time to shine. His bullet of a wrister popped the water bottle as it zipped under the cross bar at 12:36 off assists from Perfetto and Moynihan for a 3-2 lead, then his empty-net goal at 18:31 from Perfetto and Trenz sealed the deal at 4-2.

Final shots had the Aces outshooting Utah 49-35 for the game.

Alaska was 1-5 on the power play, as was Utah.

Michael Garteig stopped 33 shots for Alaska, Faragher 45 for the Grizzlies.

The two teams meet again Thursday and Friday nights at 7:15pm AST at the Sullivan Arena.
