
Aces Sign Former First-Round Pick

Alexandria, LA; June 5, 2006 - The Alexandria Aces of United League Baseball (ULB) announced Monday they have signed righthanded pitcher Donnie Bridges, a nine-year veteran and a former first-round pick.
Bridges was a first-round selection of the Montreal Expos in the 1997 Major League Baseball draft, the 23rd overall pick at the age of 19. Bridges reached AA Harrisburg in 2000 and pitched six seasons at the AA level or higher, including AAA stints with Ottawa in 2001 and New Orleans in 2005. The Purvis, Mississippi resident has a career ERA of 4.31, almost exclusively as a starter.
The Aces released lefthanded pitcher Jermaine Shack Monday. Shack, a third-year professional, was 1-0 with a 10.64 ERA for the Aces in eight appearances this season.
The Aces begin a six-game road trip Tuesday night against the Edinburg Coyotes. After continuing the road trip in Laredo, the Aces return home to Bringhurst Field for a six-game homestand beginning June 13.
