Brooklyn Aces News Release

Saturday night at the Aviator Arena in Brooklyn, NY the Brooklyn Aces auctioned off signed pucks to benefit the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer. A silent auction was held during the game with the proceeds going to ACS. Senator Carl Kruger was also on hand to drop the ceremonial first puck and present a Senate Resolution to Aces Owner Alan Friedman. On the ice, the Aces took care of business as well, winning their 4th straight game, beating the Danbury Mad Hatters 8-5. Things didn't look too promising early on however, as Danbury's Erik Kent scored a goal just 26 seconds into the first period, giving Danbury the early 1-0 lead. The Aces came back, scoring three straight goals. Two from the stick of newcomer Josh Coyle, and the third from the team's leading scorer Kyle McCullough. The Aces gave up a late goal to Stephen Schofield, and went into the second period with a 3-2 lead.

Jesse Felten started the second with his 6th goal in three games, less than two minutes into the period on a pass from Eric Frank. Midway through the second, Frank scored a goal of his own to open up Brooklyn's lead. Danbury was then able to capitalize on a power play opportunity when Drew Maderios found Obi Aduba in the slot for a wrister past Miro Recicar. The Aces entered the third period leading 6-4. Coming into the game the Aces were 17-0 when leading after two periods. Danbury came out on fire in the third, trying to put the first blemish on that record. Erik Kent scored his second goal of the night 16 seconds into the final stanza. Hank Carisio then scored his 5th of the year just a few minutes later, and suddenly it was a one goal game. After a back-and-forth period, the Aces were able to hold off the Hatters and put in two empty-net goals to preserve the W.

The Aces are in action next Friday January 23rd at the Aviator Arena against the Jersey Rockhoppers at 7:30pm. For tickets visit www.BrooklynAces.com or call 718-977-5930 ext. 8105.
