Aces Face Cincinnati Cyclones in Kelly Cup Finals

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The first seeded Alaska Aces announced they are scheduled to face the fourth seeded Cincinnati Cyclones in the Kelly Cup Finals and will begin the round with Game 1 on Friday, May 30 at Sullivan Arena, opening a best-of-seven series.

Tickets for games at Sullivan Arena are on sale at the ACES offices (corner of 15th and Gambell) beginning at Noon on Wednesday, May 28, by calling 907-258-ACES or visiting Ticketmaster.

The series, following a "3-3-1" format, is the first all-time matchup between the two teams in the postseason, featuring two clubs combining for four Kelly Cup championships (one behind South Carolina, leading the ECHL). The Aces last won the Kelly Cup in 2011, defeating the Kalamazoo Wings. Cincinnati last took the Cup in 2010 when they defeated the Idaho Steelheads.

Alaska and Cincinnati split two preseason games this season at Sullivan Arena.

The two teams also feature two former NHL forwards behind the benches. Rob Murray (Washington, Winnipeg, Phoenix) is in his third season as Aces head coach. Ben Simon (Atlanta, Columbus) is in his first season as Cincinnati head coach.

The Aces defeated the Bakersfield Condors, 4-2 in the Western Conference Final, defeated Idaho, 4-1 in the Western Conference Semifinals and defeated Las Vegas, 4-0 in the opening round. The Aces have won two Kelly Cup championships, broke an ECHL record with four appearances in the Finals and have captured an ECHL record five Brabham Cup titles (best regular season record).

Cincinnati defeated Greenville, 4-2 in the Eastern Conference Final.

All playoff games will be televised on GCI Channel 1 and carried on radio at 103.7 FM/750 AM KFQD, with Mike Benton handling play-by-play duties along with Matt Shasby and Dave Goldman.
