Alaska is appearing in the Kelly Cup Finals for the fourth time. The Aces have captured Kelly Cup titles in two of their previous trips to the Finals, defeating Gwinnett 4 games to 1 in 2006 and Kalamazoo 4 games to 1 in 2011 while falling 4 games to 3 to South Carolina in 2009. Cincinnati is making its third appearance in the Kelly Cup Finals. The Cyclones captured Kelly Cup titles in their previous two appearances, defeating Las Vegas in 2008 and Idaho in 2010. The winner of the series will tie South Carolina for the most Kelly Cup titles in ECHL history, while joining the Stingrays and Hampton Roads Admirals (1991 and 1992 Riley Cup and 1998 Kelly Cup) for most championships in the ECHL's 26-year history.
