Orlando Solar Bears News Release

Orlando, FL - The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL's Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that they will sponsor the Orlando Solar Bears / Boy Scout Golf Classic for the next three years.

"We are excited to announce our partnership with the Orlando Solar Bears for our Boy Scout Golf Classic," said Ron Oats, Executive Director, Boy Scouts of America Central Florida Council. "They have been great partners with us on many of our activities and are a first class organization that carries scouting values throughout their business. Their leadership for our Boy Scout Golf Classic will help us reach more youth in our communities and continue to deliver a solid scouting program in Central Florida."

The Orlando Solar Bears / Boy Scout Golf Classic will take place on the first Monday morning of Solar Bears Training Camp (usually in early October) for at least the next three years (2014, 2015, and 2016). This year's tournament will be played on Monday, October 6, 2014. Net proceeds from the tournament will help cover the costs of registration, books, uniforms, and program fees for those who are unable to afford to join the Boy Scout program. The Boy Scouts of America Central Florida Council serves over 25,000 youth in the Central Florida Area. All foursomes who sign up for the event will be paired up with a Solar Bears player or coach as part of a scramble team. The event location may vary year-to-year, and additional details will be announced closer to the date of the event. Spots will be available to 30 teams of four players and auction items will be made available during the tournament to raise additional funds for the Boy Scouts.

"We couldn't be more pleased to join Ron Oats and his tremendous staff at the Boy Scouts in this exciting new community venture for our organization," said Solar Bears President/CEO, Jason Siegel. "This is an opportunity to play a small role in positively impacting the lives of 25,000 youth in Central Florida."

Sponsorship opportunities for the Orlando Solar Bears / Boy Scout Golf Classic are available. For sponsorship information, please contact Randy Steil from the Boy Scouts at 407-913-0775.
