Aces defeat Fayetteville 2-1 in shootout

Asheville—The Asheville Aces defeat the Fayetteville Fire-Antz by a score of 2-1, in a shootout, before a festive crowd of 2,550. With this victory, Asheville's record goes to 7-4 and they maintain their 1st place position in the SPHL. Fayetteville opened the scoring at 13:41 with a goal from Shawn Roed. Asheville quickly answered back 30 seconds later by Jan Kentos. Throughout the game, both teams played an aggressive defense. The game ended in a shootout with the Aces outscoring Fayetteville 3-2. Scoring the goals in the shootout was Janis Tomans, Brett Roat and Jan Kentos. Ryan Person got the win between the pipes as he stopped 43 of 44 shots.

The Aces will end their four game run tomorrow when the team travels to Macon. The next home game for the Aces is Thursday, December 2 when Asheville plays host to the Huntsville Havoc at the Civic Center. Faceoff is at 7:30.
