Aces Announce Cricket Wireless TCL All-Star Game Selections

Alexandria, LA; July 11, 2011 - The Alexandria Aces are proud to announce that three of the Aces' 2011 team were named to play in the Cricket Wireless Texas Collegiate League All-Star Game to be held next Monday Night, July 18th in Bryan, Texas, hosted by the Brazos Valley Bombers.

The three Aces were named to the North Squad, along with players of the East Texas Pump Jacks and the Coppell Copperheads. They will be facing the South team, comprised of the Brazos Valley Bombers, Victoria Generals, and the Acadiana Cane Cutters.

Jami Rachal, a 6'1" local Oak Hill product from Sieper, and current Baton Rouge Community College player was named one of the outfield starters for the North team, as selected by the TCL Head Coaches. Rachal is currently batting a team-leading .289 for the season and also leads the team with six stolen bases. Jami is also tied with a few of his teammates with a team-leading 10 RBI's.

Derek Vaughn, a 6'0" RHP from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at Texas Wesleyan University was named as one of the pitchers. Vaughn currently posts a 1.84 ERA, giving up only 21 hits in 34-plus innings of work. Derek has also struck out 43 opponents and is leading the TCL in that category. Vaughn was also earlier drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 47th Round in the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft.

Trey Rickrode, a 5'8" infielder from Slidell that plays collegiately at McNeese State University was also selected as a utility infielder for the North team. Rickrode provides solid defense and has led the Aces to numerous wins by his clutch hitting this season. Trey is currently hitting .279 and has been atop the Aces' team leaders in hitting average from the beginning of the season and is also tied for the team lead at 10 RBI's.

The Aces return home this Friday and Saturday to face the Victoria Generals for a two-game series before the All-Star Game and break next Monday and Tuesday. The Aces are currently only two games out of first-place in the second-half standings and trying to obtain a playoff spot for the 2011 TCL Playoffs. Come out and show your support for the Aces this weekend.
