Rochester RazorSharks News Release
Rochester, NY. City of Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy honored the American Basketball Association champion Rochester RazorSharks team last Tuesday at City Hall, then promptly sank a three-pointer on his first try as the crowd cheered the RazorSharks victory. Mayor Duffy, who played basketball at Monroe Community College and is in the school's Sports Hall of Fame, declared Tuesday, March 29th as "Rochester RazorSharks Day" in the city as the champions continue to reach out to the community after winning the ABA championship last Sunday at The Blue Cross Arena.
Mayor Duffy introduced RazorSharks owner Orest Hrywnak, Head Coach Rod Baker and all players and staff as he gave the team a proclamation in front of 500 fans in the City Hall atrium. The RazorSharks in turn gave Mayor Duffy a game jersey with his name on the back to thank the city for their support in their inaugural season.
With two baskets set up in the historic City Hall atrium, Mayor Duffy sank a three-pointer in his only attempt to show the team and the fans that he loves the game of basketball. The RazorSharks and the City of Rochester Recreation Department will partner this summer to host clinics and weekly camps for kids of all ages.
