Published on March 30, 2006 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) and ABA Entertainment today announced "The Krew" as the first Shooting Starz local talent competition winner in Rochester, New York during the ABA Championship Game this past Sunday.
"The Krew" is comprised of three brothers, David Robinson (18) and 19 year old twins Caleb and Joshua Robinson. They performed Jagged Edge's "Walked Out of Heaven," a capella style in front of an audience of over 6300 fans, winning the audience vote by a very small decible, over the other semi-finalist, 17-year old "Que" Quwanell Mosley.
To compete at halftime during the Semi Final ABA Games on Sat, Mar 25, six contestants were selected by our panel of judges from over 75 local aspiring entertainers who came out to audition in Rochester on Thursday, Mar 23. Competing with the two winning semi-finalists, one from each of the two games, were contestants "Jay" Jermaine Fraziere, Knotashia Singleton, Zahyia Rolle, and "Strictly Biz Niz", a hip-hop group consisting of 16-17 year olds "Flo" Christopher Williams, "P.Dot" Sean Steward, "Shortly ROC" Jansen Jones and "G-Boy" Kevin Harvey.
In addition to those who came out to audition, hundreds of additional aspiring performers had called in to the office in hopes of auditioning by phone or email submission to be considered for the competition in New York.
Judge Cedric Hollywood stated, "We wree completely blown away by the caliber of talent that came out to audition. It was very difficult to select only six contestants out of this group as we saw some talent that should already be signed to a label. I can see that this unique competition will be an amazing opportunity for many people in the next six months of our search across the country. I am excited to be a part of it."
Angela Rizzi, VP of ABA Entertainment, and founder of Starz in Motion, stated "The fans really enjoyed the opportunity to enjoy local talent and participate in the selection of our winner. This competition will provide many aspiring entertainers the opportunity to be seen and heard which is what the ABA is all about, providing opportunity, not just in sports, but entertainment as well. It is win-win for all."
The Auditions for the remainder of the competition cities will be posted shortly on www.starzinmotion.com. Competitions will take place in ABA cities, tied in with exciting ARCA and NASCAR Racing events, and other sporting events. Semi-Finalists selected from each city will be featured online allowing for voting to take place over a designated period of time. Finalists will then be invited to perform at the Final Competition at the start of the 2006/2007 ABA Season. Winners will take part in STARZ IN MOTION, an ABA tour featuring winners, along with the opportunity for recording contracts, production of an original song, and other prizes from our sponsors.
