Port Huron Flags News Release
PORT HURON, MI- The Port Huron Beacons are proud to announce that Center, Aaron Brand has been chosen as the Sher-Wood Player of the Month for the Month of February.
Brand tallied 23 points including 12 goals and was +2 during the 14 games played in the month of February.
During the month Brand also tallied four power play goals; one goal versus four different teams. February 2nd @ Richmond, February 9th @ Rockford, February 11th vs. Motor City and February 12th vs. Danbury.
On February 16th Brand also accomplished something no other Beacon has done this year. At 5:31 of the first period Aaron Brand fired a wrist shot on the breakaway past Quad City Goaltender Jeff Reynaert for the shorthanded goal (SHG), that goal also turned out to be the game winning goal (GWG).
This was the second monthly nomination for Brand and first time winning this season. Brand carries a two game point streak into this weekend's action and a six game point streak at home.
The Beacons hit the road this weekend to face the Adirondack Frostbite on March 4th and the Elmira Jackals on the 5th. The Beacons return home for a Sunday afternoon match up with the Missouri RiverOtters.
