Los Angeles Avengers News Release

LOS ANGELES - Even though it is the off-season, Avenger players, coaches and "A-Team" dancers regularly visit schools, hospitals and community events.

This week, "A-Team" dancers Brittany and Tiffany spent Thursday, July 20 at the 2nd Annual Y's World of Kids Day at Kenneth Hahn State Park in the city of Los Angeles. Brittany and Tiffany took the opportunity to sign autographs, take pictures and were the honorary judges for spirit cheer contest.

"These little kids were so enthusiastic about their cheers," Tiffany said. "It's always rewarding for me to put smiles on these kid's faces."

The over 300 participants came from several of the local Los Angeles YMCA's. The event also had various inflatables, booths and games.

When the Young Men's Christian Association was founded in London, England in 1844, twelve young men banded together in a Judeo Christian fellowship to "develop in spirit, mind and body." Today, the Los Angeles YMCA is still dedicated to the objective of bringing people together in purposeful association to accomplish importantpersonal and social goals.

Modern YMCA programs are far more comprehensive and sophisticated than they were a century ago, but the Los Angeles YMCA's fundamental purpose remains constant:

"To develop and improve the spiritual, social, mental and physical life of youth and adults in accordance with the spirit and teachings of Jesus; and, in cooperation with other organizations and with individuals, to render such services in the community as will secure better economic, social and moral conditions for youth and adults."
