Sioux City Bandits News Release
It is has been a long journey. There have been countless steps taken. Iron and steel have been lifted, pushed, and moved. Specific technical applications have been honed to razor sharpness in a stunning amount hours spent in practice, meetings, and training.
From Lamar High School in Arlington, TX, to Coe College, through a 50-yard field in Sioux City, flying over seas to play with the Fire, and stopping in Buffalo, Fred Jackson has been on a journey that he has earned. At every stop, Jackson has excelled and acquired the accolades of coaches, players, and the press. This past season will not be the exception either.
During the past season with the Buffalo Bills, Jackson has worn many hats. Of course we, as Bandit fans, all knew he would wear the running back hat, and kick returner hat. And we even suspected he could wear a wide receiver hat with the great hands and speed he possesses. Jackson also got to wear the quarterback hat as well. During the first number of games this season, Fred was the Bills third string quarterback.
All this versatility and ability to learn multiple positions has earned Fred one more award. This award is for players who not only work to make themselves better, but do the work that makes others better. The motto of this group is: If you work hard, good things will happen - to someone else.
The USA TODAY 16th Annual All-Joe Team has names on it like Jeff Garcia, Jon Kitna, Adewale Ogunleye, Morten Anderson, and John Runyan. This list also has a name we all know - Fred Jackson. The All-Joe award is quite fitting for Fred. As a Bandit, Fred worked tirelessly to make himself, and his teammates better football players.
Congratulations Fred, well done my friend, well done.
