April 16, 2005 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Haven County Cutters News Release

The New Haven County Cutters will be holding a tryout camp on Saturday, May 14, for interested players with professional or significant college experience. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Yale Field.

The tryout will begin at 9 under the watchful eye of Manager Mike Church and his staff and will run for as long as it takes to evaluate everyone. Players should bring their own gloves and shoes and be dressed in apparel fitting for a baseball tryout. Directions to the field can be found at _www.CuttersBaseball.com_ (http://www.CuttersBaseball.com) . There is a $25 dollar (cash only) registration fee.

"Based on the number of calls and emails we have already received, we very likely will have more players trying out this spring," said Bob Wirz, director of player procurement. "That is an excellent sign about the interest the Cutters are attracting. There will be even more interest when the college season ends." Forty players participated last year.

There will be an hour break after the morning session so the players can go to lunch, followed by an afternoon scrimmage for players who are invited to return.

The Cutters will have the option of inviting any player from the tryout to the team's preseason camp, where the team will prepare for the upcoming season. The rain date for the tryout camp is May 15. The first series of the season is May 26-29 in Canada against the Quebec Les Capitales. The Cutters' home opener is on Memorial Day, May 30, at 6:05.

Season and group tickets are available at Yale Field or by calling 203 777-5636. Information also may be obtained at www.CuttersBaseball.com
