May 27, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Atlantic City CardSharks News Release
Atlantic City, NJ, May 26, 2004 â The CardSharks will take on the Ohio Valley Greyhounds on Saturday at 7:30 PM in Historic Boardwalk Hall, while they dedicate the day to supporting United States Armed Forces with discounted tickets to all fans. The Greyhounds (8-1) are coming off a big win against the Carolina Stingrays, 62-27, while the CardSharks (3-5) lost to the Lexington Horsemen, 67-66, in the final 11 seconds of the game last week at the Hall.
The Greyhounds defense leads the league in most defensive categories including points allowed per game (19.8), yards allowed per game (131.4) and turnover margin (+15). Strong Safety Angel Estrada has anchored the Greyhounds defense with 7 interceptions already this season.
This will provide a tough test for âSharks Quarterback Tony Racioppi. Racioppi currently ranks among the league leaders in several categories including passing yards per game (192.3), touchdowns (25), and completion percentage (59.0 %). The CardSharks offense struggled in their first outing at Ohio Valley in the 51-8 loss during Week 8 of NIFL play.
"The Ohio Valley defensive is tough and they always come ready to play," stated General Manager and Head Coach Mike Siani. "We will try to make some adjustments from the first game; the most important thing we need to do at this point in time is come into the game prepared."
The CardSharks have made several roster moves this week as well. The team has signed Linebacker Nolan James from Kean College. James, 6'2" 245 lbs., will help to strengthen the âSharks defense. The CardSharks have also signed Kicker Scott Rubinetti from Montclair State.
The special Armed Forces dedication night will be this Saturday at 7:30. For tickets, call Ticketmaster at 1-800-736-1420 or visit them on the web at www.ticketmaster.com. For more information on the CardSharks, visit www.accardsharks.com, email us at info@accardsharks.com, or call 1-888-264-8701.
