WHEELING, WV – The Ohio Valley Greyhounds of the United Indoor Football Association are proud to announce that Shawn Hackett will return for the 2005 season as a strong safety as well as being named Defensive Coordinator.

Hackett (5-11, 195) was once again stellar on the field for the Hounds in 2004. Shawn played in all 14 games during the regular season, compiling a team-leading 91 tackles (five for a loss), three interceptions, one sack, and 17 pass break-ups.

In 2003, Shawn's spectacular defensive efforts earned him the team's Most Valuable Player award, voted upon by the players, coaches, and staff. The WVU grad collected 95 tackles (13 for a loss), nine passes broken up, and a team-leading five interceptions.

Shawn's collegiate career at West Virginia culminated in 2002, when Hackett was named First-Team All-Big East. The two seasons spent in Morgantown saw Shawn collect 228 tackles, seven of which were behind the line of scrimmage. Prior to WVU, Hackett played at Lackawanna Junior College in Scranton, PA.

"Sandman" is the first member to be added to Mike Siani's coaching staff.
