Brampton Beast Sign Rob Collins and Josh McQuade

The Brampton Beast announced the addition of Rob Collins (03/15/78) and Josh McQuade (03/06/89) for the
2013-2014 season.
Rob Collins, the right-handed Peterborough native, played four years for NCAA Ferris State University, serving his final year as Assistant Captain. Collins then signed with the American Hockey League, Grand Rapid Griffins. Following two seasons, he joined the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL and made his NHL debut in 2005-2006 for the New York Islanders. He played eight regular season games for the Islanders and scored his first NHL goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs. For the past seven (7) years, Collins has been over-seas in Germany, playing for the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). His 2012-2013 season was spent with the Hamburg Freezers as their Assistant Captain. Head Coach Mark DeSantis and Assistant Coach Brent Hughes are looking forward to having Collins on the Beast, as he'll bring his veteran leadership and influence young players. Assistant Coach Brent Hughes expressed that Collins' experiences playing in different leagues, from the highest professional level in Europe to the NHL will be a huge asset for the offensive line.
Josh McQuade from Grimsby, Ontario first played in the OPJHL Oakville Blades and OHL Peterborough Petes. The 5'10" forward has played in five different leagues, including one year with the University of Western Ontario. Following one season in Fayetteville, McQuade played under Beast Head Coach, Mark DeSantis, in 2012-2013 with the FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). Last season, he was selected as the Easton Most Valuable Player in a vote by league coaches, general managers and media representatives. McQuade led the SPHL in goals (42), points (79), power play assists (16-tied) and shots (289) and set a new SPHL record with 11 game-winning goals. As the teams Assistant Captain, McQuade helped lead the FireAntz to the regular season championship. Beast Assistant Coach Brent Hughes describes McQuade as a "young, hungry player who is looking to prove himself at a professional level." He is also a player that the Beast are excited to have on their team, as opposed to play against. Having already played under Head Coach DeSantis, McQuade will also be an asset on the offensive line-up.
The Beast would like to welcome Collins and McQuade to the 2013-2014 roster.
