Privateers Sign Paul Campbell

The 1000 Islands Privateers have signed the center of its plans for the 2012-13 season. The Privateers have come to terms with European star Peter Campbell. Privateers head coach Paul Kelly says signing Campbell gives his team a "game-changer" with the ability to take over a game at any point.

Last season, while playing in Italy, Campbell won honors for tallying the most points (103) and handing out the most assists (66). In fact, throughout his last three seasons in Italy, the Gloucester, Ontario native registered 249 points while scoring an amazing 138 goals.

Kelly says his new center will be one of the top scorers in the Federal Hockey League and instantly "provide veteran leadership for our squad." Along with his European experience, the five foot nine Campbell has played in both the OHL and CHL. 15 times Campbell has reached the post-season, including each of the last five seasons. In fact, with 17 years playing professional hockey, at an elite level, coach Kelly says having Campbell will, "make my job a lot easier."
