
AirHogs Sign Greg Porter

The Grand Prairie AirHogs have signed Greg Porter to a contract for the 2011 season. He played for the AirHogs last season batting .379 with 20 home runs and 87 RBI. In 2009, Porter was with Wichita where he batted .372 with 21 home runs and 86 RBI and was named the American Association Player of the Year as well as the Independent League Player of the Year.
Porter was originally selected by the Anaheim Angels in the 45th round of the 2001 amateur draft out of Texas A&M. He made it as high as Triple-A in the Angels (Salt Lake City in 2007) and Yankees (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2008) organizations. Porter was a two-sport star at Texas A&M playing both football and baseball while at College Station. He played four sports at Keller High School in Keller, Texas.
The AirHogs begin their fourth season at QuikTrip Park on May 12 when Grand Prairie meets the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Individual game tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling 972-504-9383 or by visiting airhogsbaseball.com.
