Sharks Bolster Roster With NFL Talent

January 6, 2010 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE, FL - The Jacksonville Sharks announced today the signing of four players for its inaugural season. Wide receivers Charles Frederick and Jeron Harvey join quarterback Bernard Morris and kicker Paul Edinger as the newest members of the expansion franchise in the Arena Football 1 (AF1) league in a quest to bring a championship to Jacksonville.

Paul Edinger (5'8", 175 lbs) joins the Sharks as a franchise-record holder in the NFL. Known for his "corkscrew" kicking motion, Edinger was a sixth-round (174 overall) draft pick from Michigan State by the Chicago Bears in 2000. In five years with the Bears, Edinger connected on 77% of field goals and 100% of extra points. Edinger was a free agent signing by the Minnesota Vikings in 2005 where he holds a franchise record for the longest field goal with a 56-yard game winner.

Charles Frederick (5'11", 205 lbs) brings a duel-threat as both wide receiver and defensive back. A team captain at University of Washington, Frederick was a wide receiver and kick/punt return dynamo. Frederick's talents helped the Spokane Shock win the 2006 ArenaCup as an expansion team. As a member of the Kansas City Brigade, Frederick set numerous franchise records on his way to the 2008 AFL Rookie of the Year. His ability as a true iron man, along with his veteran experience makes Frederick a can't-miss signing for the Sharks.

Jeron Harvey (6'5", 220 lbs) is the second Jacksonville native signed to the 2010 roster. After a standout career at Andrew Jackson High, Harvey became a true threat for Kevin Kolb as a University of Houston Cougar. Harvey then came home as an undrafted free agent to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2008. Harvey's size and speed will allow this receiver to make the end zone a second home.

Bernard Morris (6'4", 215 lbs) was a three-year starter at Marshall. Morris's career saw nearly 7,000 total yards of offensive production with nearly 40 touchdowns. After a stellar senior season capped by a strong showing as the Hula Bowl MVP, Morris was invited to East-West Shrine Bowl.

The Jacksonville Sharks are members of the Arena Football 1 (AF1) League. All home games will be played at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. The home season kicks off April 16 against the Orlando Predators. Season tickets for the inaugural season of the Jacksonville Sharks are now available for as low as $45.
