Raptors 905 (5-13), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors fell to the Windy City Bulls (6-11) 99-113 Sunday afternoon. The 905 were led by Kobi Simmons who put up a team-high 26 points, six rebounds, and seven assists in the loss. Chicago two-way player Henri Drell led the matchup with a career-high 38 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.
Both teams eager to break their losing streak, the ball game began competitively as the 905 and Bulls traded baskets. The 905 took an early lead before the Bulls quickly responded outscoring the 905 36-24 in the frame. Windy City continued to build off their momentum in the second quarter, leading by as many as 26 points in the first half behind a balanced scoring effort.
Down by 19 to open the second half, the 905 were able to get into a rhythm, eventually outscoring the home team 29-24. In the final frame, the shorthanded 905 to put together a string of runs and stops to bring the ball game within 12 but were unable to overcome the deficit. The two teams meet on Feb. 29 to close out their season series.
Kevin Obanor added 15 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and two blocks to the stat sheet while Javon Freeman-Liberty added 24 point, eight rebounds, and five assists in the return to his hometown. The Bulls received complementary scoring from Adama Sanogo's 24-point, 12-rebound double-double.
The 905 return home for a two-game series against the Greensboro Swarm, beginning Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The Bulls travel to Maine Wednesday, with tip-off slated for 7:00 p.m.
