TONIGHT: The Hillsboro Hops play a must-win game in the second game of their best-of-three South Division Series against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, 7:05 PM at Ron Tonkin Field in Hillsboro. Right-hander Carlos Hernandez, the Northwest League Pitcher of the Year, takes the hill for the Hops. He was 6-3 during the regular season and led the league with a 2.32 ERA and 93 strikeouts. Lefty Grant Watson, the Giants' 16th-round draft choice this year out of UCLA, goes for Salem-Keizer.

THE"IF" GAME: If Hillsboro wins tonight, the third and deciding game of the series would be tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7:05 PM at Ron Tonkin Field in Hillsboro.
GOOD NEWS / BAD NEWS: Since the Northwest League adopted its current format in 2010, there have been 15 best-of-three playoff series. Eleven of the 15 teams who have won game one have gone on to win the series; nine of those 15 teams swept the series. On the other hand, of the six teams who have forced a third game, four of them have won the series.
