66ers Take Third Straight from Quakes

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Inland Empire 66ers took their third straight win at LoanMart Field, winning on Thursday night by a final of 5-3 over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.

The 66ers slugged a pair of homers in the fourth inning and broke a tie game, taking the lead for good against Rancho starter Christian Romero.

With the game tied 1-1, Romero (5-1) surrendered a two-run homer to Alberto Rios, his first of the year to make it 3-1. Cam Williams followed with his fourth bomb of the season, making it 4-1.

Rancho got back in the game with a homer from Thayron Liranzo (18) and an RBI ground ball off the bat of Josue De Paula, making it 4-3 in the seventh.

Inland got an insurance run in the eighth and then 66ers' reliever Max Gieg retired all six Quakes he faced to secure his second save, giving Inland a sixth straight win overall.

66ers' reliever Leonard Garcia (4-4) was credited with the win, as he allowed one run over two relief innings.

Jared Karros (2-3) will try to get Rancho (16-23, 55-50) on track on Friday night at 6:30pm, with right-hander Walbert Urena (2-4) going for the 66ers.
