Tulsa 66ers News Release
TULSA, Okla., December 3, 2005 - The Tulsa 66ers bench sparked a second straight come-from-behind victory over the Fayetteville Patriots as they produced 61 of the teams' 91 points in a 91-85 win Saturday afternoon.
The leader of the bench was Tulsa guard, Desmon Farmer who was on fire hitting 3-of-5 from behind the arch and leading the 66ers with 22 points.
Fayetteville had jumped out to an early lead by pounding a slightly undersized Tulsa squad down low. The Patriots took six of their first eight shots from inside five feet.
Patriot forward, Erik Daniels, who led all scorers with 24 points and added a game-high 15 rebounds, hit a driving layup with 5:00 remaining in the first quarter to give the Patriots a 16-7 lead.
Tulsa forward, Sean Banks, assigned by the Oklahoma City/New Orleans Hornets, and teammate Bernard King scored 10 straight points as Fayetteville went cold starting the second quarter and the game went in to halftime tied at 41.
Farmer, who had scored nine first-quarter points, had seemed to cool off until late in the third quarter when he scored six points in a row to increase a slim three-points lead to nine, entering the final period 65-59.
"I was just playing for the team," said Farmer. "Whatever they needed, I did."
Fayetteville would try to make a fourth-quarter run but to no avail and Tulsa hung on for their second straight home win.
"We held court," said Tulsa 66er head coach Joey Meyer. "That was important for us. I have a feeling we are just starting to scratch the surface with this team and now we're back in the race."
Tulsa takes on their eighth game of the regular season against the Albuquerque Thunderbirds on Friday, December 9 at the Expo Square Pavilion in Tulsa. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
