
66ers' Scoring Balance Overwhelms 14ers

Tulsa, Okla. - The Tulsa 66ers utilized a balance attack, with seven players scoring in double figures, to defeat the Colorado 14ers 111-104 on Saturday night. It was the first victory for Tulsa at home in their new arena, the SpiritBank Event Center.
Ryan Humphrey had a team and season-high 22 points and six rebounds to lead the 66ers, while Chris Richard finished with 15 points and seven rebounds and Ronald Dupree had 15 points and nine boards. Chris Ellis and Derrick Dial came off the bench to combine for 26 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Yemi Ogunoye and Jeremy Kelly each had 11 points.
"We were due for a game like that," 66ers Head Coach Paul Woolpert said. "Tonight we played more as a team than at any point this year."
The 14ers were led by a game-high 26 points from James Mays, who also grabbed eight rebounds. Sonny Weems also scored a season-high 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field. Eddie Gill finished with 17 points and seven assists, and Cheikh Samb finished with nine points, 10 rebounds and six blocks.
"Colorado is a heck of an offensive team," Woolpert said.
The game was tied at 96 apiece with 5:20 left in the fourth quarter then the 66ers went on a 9-1 run, led by a Humphrey dunk, six straight points from Richard and a Dupree dunk off a backdoor assist from Humphrey. A Gill three-pointer cut the lead to 105-100 with 1:34 left in the game but a Humphrey layup and free throws down the stretch by Dupree and Dial sealed the victory. The 66ers scored a season-high 31 points in the fourth quarter and shot 50% (40-of-80) from the field.
Despite 15 lead changes and 19 ties throughout the contest, the 66ers controlled the game in the paint with a 54-40 advantage. Tulsa forced 19 turnovers and committed a season-low tying 14 of their own.
Each team will head to Colorado for a rematch of the division rivals on Tuesday, December 23.
