Inland Empire 66ers News Release
San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers, California League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, announced on Wednesday that they have reached an agreement with KPRO, 1570 AM to air the majority of Sixers games on terrestrial radio. KPRO is currently a radio partner with the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association but primarily programs religious content. The station is based out of Riverside, CA.
"This is an outstanding opportunity for the 66ers and the baseball-loving public," Inland Empire General Manager Joe Hudson said. "There's really nothing quite like tuning in a baseball game on the radio and along with our own internet stream, fans will once again have that option with the our club."
66ers fans have been able to listen to every inning of Inland Empire baseball the past two seasons via the club's website 66ers.com as well as Minor League Baseball's mobile app. These options will still be available for all 140 regular season games as well as any playoff baseball. Steve Wendt returns for his third season as the play-by-play broadcaster for the 66ers.
KPRO will air the bulk of the 66ers games live on its 1570 AM frequency. Games starting prior to 6:30 pm will be joined in-progress or taped delayed. Sunday games will not be carried on KPRO due to prior commitments. Likewise, games that conflict with Los Angeles Clippers games will be pre-empted throughout the regular season and duration of the Clippers' playoff run.
"We are thrilled to have a partner like KPRO," Hudson added. "Valorie (Stitely-Station Manager), Dale (Parsons-Station Rep) and Denny (Brougher- Program Coordinator) are a great team and we look forward to an amazing season."
The first KPRO/66ers broadcast will be the season opener for Inland Empire on Thursday April 7th at 6:30 pm from Adelanto, CA as the Sixers take on the High Desert Mavericks. The 66ers home opener at San Manuel Stadium is slated for April 14th at 7:05 pm versus the San Jose Giants. Tickets are available at 66ers.com.
