66ers Fall to Vipers on the Road

HIDALGO, Texas, January 29, 2014 - Three 66ers scored over 20 points but the Tulsa 66ers fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 125-113, on Wednesday night at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. Andre Roberson, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, posted nine points and nine rebounds.

Mustafa Shakur tallied 23 points, six rebounds and nine assists while Mario Little scored 23 points with four rebounds. Reggie Williams collected 22 points, four rebounds and two assists off the bench.

Rodney Bartholomew posted his fifth double-double in the past six games with 10 points and 10 boards. Ron Anderson and Isaiah Wilkerson also scored 10 points each.

After Rio Grande Valley outscored the 66ers 32-22 in the opening quarter, the 66ers began chipping away at the Vipers lead, trailing 63-55 at halftime. The 66ers eventually pulled within seven on a Williams jumper with 7:02 remaining in the fourth. The Vipers pulled away in the final minutes, shooting 13-for-14 from the foul line in the final quarter.

The 66ers forced 18 Vipers turnovers, including 12 off of steals, while grabbing 49 rebounds. Tulsa has pulled down 48 or more boards in five consecutive games.

Rio Grande Valley was led by Tim Ohlbrecht with 28 points and 13 rebounds.

Tulsa continues its four-game Texas road trip with a pair of weekend games against the Austin Toros, tipping off at 7 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday. Both games will air live on YouTube.
