
66ers Drop Preseason Matchup With Energy

Tulsa, OK - Despite a game-high 17 points and eight rebounds from Latavious Williams in his NBA Development League debut, the Tulsa 66ers lost in preseason action 99-89 tonight against the Iowa Energy at the Integris Health Thunder Training Center in Edmond, Oklahoma. The Energy shot 56 percent (10-18) from three-point range and outrebounded the 66ers 47-35.
The Energy went on an early 13-3 run in the first quarter, after two mid-range jumpers from Jeff Trepagnier and Rashad Anderson, as well as a layup by Earl Barron. Iowa shot 55 percent (11-20) in the first quarter compared to 31 percent (5-16) for Tulsa, as the 66ers trailed 17-28 after the period.
At the start of the second quarter, the 66ers went on an 11-2 run of their own, led by three-point buckets from Cecil Brown and Mustafa Shakur, cutting the Energy lead to 28-30. As the game wore on, the Energy remained hot from three-point range, and Tulsa could not overcome the deficit.
Led by Williams, the 66ers finished with six players scoring in double figures. Shakur had 14 points, Brown added 13 off the bench, and Keith Clark pitched in 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Larry Owens and Yemi Ogunoye each finished with 10 points.
The Energy were led by Barron with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Curtis Stinson added 15 points and seven assists. Pat Carroll finished with 11 points, while Trepagnier and Mark Tyndale each had 10 points.
The 66ers will finish out training camp and open the regular season against the Utah Flash at home on Nov. 27 and 28, both games are at 7 pm at the Tulsa Convention Center.
The Energy start the 2009-10 season on the road against the Springfield Armor, before heading home on Dec. 3
