Tulsa 66ers News Release
TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa 66ers fell to the Austin Toros, 101-99, on Friday night at the SpiritBank Event Center.
Six Tulsa players scored in the double digits, including Dominique Sutton with 21. Hollis Thompson posted a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Andy Rautins added 18 points with 4-for-7 shooting from 3-point range.
Austin (12-9) led Tulsa (9-11) 93-83 with 3:30 remaining in the game before a 9-2 run to get within three points. The Toros responded with four straight points to give them a seven point advantage headed into the final minute.
Tulsa outscored Austin 6-2 in the final 45 seconds behind aggressive defensive plays including a pair of steals by Rasual Butler and Chris Quinn and a blocked shot by Sutton. Although the comeback effort wasn't enough to top the Toros, Tulsa Head Coach Darko Rajakovic took away some positive elements.
"We were fighting back until the end," said Rajakovic. "I give our guys credit for that. They didn't give up and believed in victory. We were aggressive enough to get those steals at the end."
Tulsa dished out 19 assists and forced 17 Austin turnovers, including 13 on steals.
The Toros and 66ers face off again Saturday night at 7:00 at the SpiritBank Event Center. The 66ers will be giving away Battle Rattlz to the first 1,000 fans on Saturday night in partnership with Southern Nazarene University.
Saturday night's game will also feature a children's clothing drive to benefit the Assistance League of Tulsa. Fans who bring new or gently used children's clothing will receive one raffle ticket for each donation for a chance to win a Tulsa 66ers prize.
