Saint John Flames News Release
SAINT JOHN, NB - The Saint John Flames Hockey Club and the Ignitors Booster Club announced today that 89 non-profit community organizations benefited from the proceeds generated by the 2001-02 season's 50/50 Draws. A total of $90,057 was donated this past season to organizations within the southern New Brunswick area. The 50/50 Draw has now contributed $891,827 to area non-profit organizations since its' inception during the Flames inaugural season of 1993-94.
"The Ignitors are very proud to administer the Flames 50/50 program," stated Ignitors' President Marjorie Nagle. "It is an incredibly successful fundraiser and prime example of the impact the Flames do have on our community."
"The success of the 50/50 program is due in large part to the commitment of the Ingitors Booster Club," said Flames Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Stew MacDonald. "We applaud their efforts over the past nine seasons that have benefited countless non-profit organizations in Saint John and southern New Brunswick, not to mention the many fans that have won the nightly jackpots."
The 50/50 Draw takes place at all Saint John Flames home games. A committee of Ignitors Booster Club members determines the recipients of the 50/50 proceeds. All non-profit organizations are eligible to apply for funding, with the formal application process for the 2002-03 season's 50/50 proceeds beginning in September.
The list of the 89 community organizations that received support from the 2001-02 season's 50/50 proceeds is attached.
The Saint John Flames are the primary development organization of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames and have been a member of the American Hockey League since 1993.
