Martha's Vineyard Sharks News Release

On Friday, April 22, Tennessee Wesleyan College played the first game of the weekend series against Reinhardt University. It was an exciting day not only for the win, but the eight home runs that were hit during the game. Five of those home runs were hit by future Shark David Bergin, of Tennessee Wesleyan College, who tied the NAIA National record for the most home runs hit in a single game. The record was previously set by Jake Ford of Spaulding University, when they played against Tennessee Wesleyan in the opening round of the NAIA World Series in 2003.

David Bergin is a junior from Tampa, Florida. He is a right handed pitcher as well as infielder, but most often is the designated hitter for the Bulldogs. He is currently ranked 2nd in the nation in slugging percentage (0.877), 5th in home runs per game (0.348), and 5th in home runs (16).
